Windows 10: Hide grey cross on offline file

I have files with a grey cross and cannot open them. This only happens some of the time

Hi, Yesterday Microsoft updated my computer and right after that small grey crosses appeared at the bottom left hand side of all my files, can you help it is worrying me, I have Windows 10, thanks.

Kindly check and try the steps below and see how it goes.

Method 1:

- Pick any file that has a grey X on it and right click on it and choose Open with

- Depending on the type of file, the default app/program might be different but you can select which was is appropriate for photos and videos

- Ensure that Always use this app to open files is ticked and click OK

- Check if you will still be getting the grey X on the icons

Method 2:

- In the event that you will still encounter the issue, you can refer to the link below and follow the guide to rebuild the icon cache:
