  1. HiDPI Displays

So, I've been on Windows 10 for all of two days now. I've tried out a few of the programs that were driving me nuts in Windows 7/8 when it comes to HiDPI scaling on apps not "designed" with HiDPI in mind. Turns out Windows 10 is no different. Is this a joke? Did Microsoft not learn anything or do anything to remedy issues?

Or is there basically just going to be no support for apps that weren't designed for HiDPI?

For reference, I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro which has a 3200x1800 display. I run it at 1080p because I can't stand the way those particular apps look, and it's annoying that I have to log out if I want to revert from 3200x1800 @ 200% scaling to 1080p @ 100% scaling.

The trade off at this point is the type/text is not as sharp as I'd like it.

    :)

  2. File explorer crashing when scaling at 175%

There's still no fix for this? We're deploying Win10 now with HiDPI displays and 175% just happens to be the sweet spot for these. I am still seeing the issue with a laptop I'm setting up now. Has this really been an issue for THREE MONTHS?

    HiDPI Displays

If an app deliberately uses pixel measurements, then there's nothing the OS can do about it. The OS can't know if it meant to use pixels deliberately on a HiDPI display or whether it just didn't know any better.

Microsoft has published scaling guidelines for years, but many app developers ignored them.

This still doesn't excuse Microsoft from not scaling apps. GPU hardware has been required since Windows 7. It's trivial to scale apps now. There is absolutely no excuse for how long Microsoft dropped the ball on this.

  6. I know it is up to developers to improve apps, and I've already expressed my gripes with some of these developers. That said, Microsoft should have implemented a way for HiDPI support no matter the "age" of the app.

I suspect this is a very, very small audience and MS has larger problems to fix. Have you reported it via Feedback or Me too'd it if it's already been reported? I've been using computers for a long time and never even heard the term HiDPI before.

  8. HiDPI Displays

There is a problem with scaling on Windows 10. For instance open up Device Manager when you have a DPI of anything over 100%. What appears is blurry text. Same thing for many of the MS utilities like Task Scheduler. Even message boxes can be blurry. I see this with message boxes during installation of apps.

The point is that Windows 8.x never had this problem with 99% of apps. Certainly not MS utility apps. If you search in Feedback for W10 you will see that this problem has been reported.

This is not the applications fault, it is MSFT's.
