  1. High CPU after KB4560960 update & using desktop Word 365 - June 2020

After most recent Microsoft 365 and Windows 10 updates KB4560960 desktop Word started chewing up over 30% CPU even for an empty document whereas no such problem for years before on same computer using 365.

Am uninstalling KB4560960 to see if it solves the problem since I foolishly only searched to see if it was buggy after installing it because I wasted hours with Office support having me uninstall and reinstall 365 only to not resolve the problem. There are independent reports that it is buggy which you can find by searching for KB4560960.

Will report back after rebooting after having uninstalled KB4560960 if this turns out to fix the overly-high CPU usage which overheats Pentium 7 computer just from running 365 desktop Word.

    :)

High CPU load when typing in Word 365 on Windows 10

    Hi,

I've got a Word document with about 13 MB, 9 pages, some pictures, some tables. When I type, I get a serious lag of about 1 to 2 seconds, the CPU usage rises up to 30%. I already tried both offline and online repair, no effect whatsoever. Windows installation
is pretty new (maybe three weeks back, not much in use since). The RAM is not much but should be sufficient for typing in Word, imo. I tried switching off spell and grammar checking, also no effect.

When I open a blank docx file and start typing, the CPU rises to about 4% which I consider quite high for an empty document.

    MS Word 365 MSO 16.0.11727.20222 64-bit

    Windows 10 Home 1903, 18362.239

    Intel Core i5-4440 @ 3.1GHz

    8 GB RAM

Any hints (apart from the not so helpful "did you try to reinstall your PC from scratch?" comments) are highly appreciated, thanks!

Office 365 activation error after big Win 10 update

We appreciate your response, Keith. We suggest that you update Office 365 and see if it'll make a difference. You can simply do it by opening any Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Here are the steps on how to do so:

    • Open Office app, then click on File.
    • Look for Account, then click on Update.
    • Once done, restart your computer.

We're looking forward to your feedback.
