High CPU and memory for unknown reason

    Hello,

I got myself a pretty nice, pretty fast Acer Aspire laptop, about 3 months ago. It's definitely better than my old Acer Aspire. This one has more gb, more memory and a better video card. It can run a few games, it can run my art software, and it can handle that I'm such a fangirl for movies and tv shows. Perfect for me.

Though, I'm running into a problem. The fan is always overworking in my opinion. As soon as I even just open my browser, my CPU is already at 30 and sometimes peaks to 100 out of nowhere and my fan is out of control.
With my old laptop, it was superfetch, superfetch is disabled now, as are some other programs that constantly made my CPU peak. But it's still peaking! Or staying between 30-50 for no reason, or at least not a visible one.

I'm not blaming my CPU to peak whenever I'm gaming or using my art stuff, but when I'm only just on the internet... or writing a story in Word? Also I doubt it's a virus, I know how to keep my laptop clean and I already scanned my entire laptop for viruses or malware or anything and my scanners can't find anything.

For a moment, it seemed like facebook was taking up a lot of memory, but even if it did, my laptop shouldn't panic so much just for facebook.

    I'm a bit stuck here.

Hope someone can help me! *Smile

    :)

First run administrative command prompt sfc /scannow to check the integrity of the operating system.

menu approach: right click left lower corner window icon, click administrative command prompt or administrative power shell
    keyboard approach: win + r, a ,alt + y
    type sfc /scannow
It should take less than 10 minutes and display that it found no integrity violations

You can place the computer in clean boot which should markedly reduce the numbers seen on the task monitor.

How to perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki

Once you have confirmed the low numbers use the computer as you normally do and see if the problem has been fixed.

Many people run their computers in clean boot to have the most privacy and fewest applications in use. Depending on what you regularly do you may notice increased or decrease performance but you will have the fastest boot times.

If you want to troubleshoot the offending application that is consuming cpu and or memory there are several things you can do:

    1) modify the start up applications
for example: If you unchecked 30 items in msconfig you would recheck 15 of them and then use the computer for a few days to see if the problem has remained the same or gotten worse.
If they remain the same then you uncheck the boxes that you just checked and check the 15 boxes that you had not checked.
This process continues by keep dividing in 1/2 until you find the misbehaving application.
Once you find the misbehaving application you then uninstall it, or uninstall and reinstall it, or leave the box unchecked and use the application on demand.

    2) use the windows performance recorder to find the misbehaving application. The challenge will be interpreting it or finding someone that is able to interpret it.

Hi, please post a screenshot of your task manager, organising any columns of interest high to low by clicking on the relevant column tab. Repeat for different columns if useful.

Then do a clean boot (see Tutorial section or search if unsure how to do that) and repeat the above.

Please also complete your system specs (see mine for comparison).

Please confirm you have made no changes to the paging file settings.

Also run Crystal Diskinfo (free) as a quick check on your disk (which shouldn't be a problem with a newish PC).

Can you confirm your current problem did not exist when you first had your PC?
