Windows 10: High GPU usage from DWM Desktop Window Manager When starting up a game.

Hi, I'm currently experiencing an issue with my GPU as it goes to 100% as seen on task manager and DWM.exe is taking 80-100% of it, and i had this problem for about 1 month. Usually DWM.exe starts taking up GPU Whenever i join Roblox, Minecraft or any other game/ here is my pc information: System model: XPS 15 9560 Windows: 11 home System manufacturer: DellOS manufacturer: Microsoft.corpPc: 64x basedGraphics driver GPU 1 IntelR HD Graphics 630 "Latest"Graphics driver GPU 2Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1050 Version "555.99 Latest"Central processing unit CPUIntel R CoreTM i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz

Hey everyone,

i got the same Problem since two days. My PC configuration is a Gigabyte 2070 Super 8GB and a Ryzen 7 3700X and ive got every update from Windows and Geforce experience. I am wondering why Windows doesnt said anything to this Problem after seeing this thread
being 20 Pages Long. Does anybody tried These Solutions

First i thought the cause is Google Chrome because it made high gpu and Volt usage too but after an uninstall the Problem was still there.

Is there any Suggestion how to solve the Problem. If this link is working please tell me.

Im having same issue whem im moving my cursor or any window it can use up to 35% of gpu ( dwm and csrss) even without gpu installed and the cpu usage goes up to 2%

But when im putting at nvidia 3d dwm to prefare maximum performance and restart my pc the desktop usage goes to 6% maximum but still in games that i had tested yet in the games csgo and apex legends the usage is about 5% when game running for both games
, cod mw was using 99% cpu , and 36% dwm with 0% game usage (so this game could be the issue of so high usage) will test later pubg and fortnite

For some reason when im closing tab gpu usage is spiking to 100% for milisec

Help microsoft!!! And other companies

When doing nothing all is at 0.1%

Without gpu 0-3d but when moving it has gpu 0 3d agian

Several individuals have reported Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) using unrealistic amounts of GPU for video playback, gaming, or any high graphics intensive activity. Here is a list of just a few of the many requests for support on this issue:

It has been a few years now that this problem has been reported, are there any accepted fixes. From what I gather, even those individuals with serious graphics cards are vulnerable to dwm.exe dominating their available GPU. I myself report this issue, even
on games and design software with the settings at a minimum. For example, Java will be using ~45% of the available GPU, whereas dwm.exe takes up the remaining ~55%. As stated previously, the result is the entire system halting, not just the game. The mouse
will take a few seconds to stutter across the screen, and task manager will take 5+ seconds to even appear.

There have been many suggestions and no results. Is that Microsoft's consensus then? Thank you ahead of time.
