Windows 10: High Latency and laptop optical drive is searching for a disk but no disk is inserted

System InfoWindows 10, 10.0, version 2009, build: 19045 x64GL753VE, ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.I've asked this question before but I keep putting it off. I haven't really tried anything because if do i might mess up my computer even more and i can't trust myself.The problem that i'm having is very annoying this problem happens when closing a game or sometimes while the game is running. my laptop makes a sound like it's searching for a disk but there is no disk inserted, This goes on for like a 30 seconds, while the sound is happening there is audio drops and also spikes. Optical BD drive disappears when inserting a disk

Something in a recent update to Windows 10 has changed the behavior of my SATA connected optical drive.

Everything worked fine and then recently:

Inserting a cd causes the drive to disappear from "This PC"

The drive will show up in Device Manager if "show hidden devices" is checked.

If I restart the computer with the cd in the drive I can listen to the disk.

If I eject the disk and insert another the drive disappears again.

Mobo = Asrock Fatal1ty z170 Gaming-ITX/ac (all drivers from asrock current)

Disk drive = Matshita BD-MLT UJ265

Any suggestions welcome.

Optical drive letters keep swapping

Open Disk Management (click Start, type diskmgmt.msc in the Search box, and press Enter).

1. In the lower pane, right-click on your optical drive and select "Change drive letter and paths"
2. Assign Y: to the first optical drive
3. Repeat step 1 for the second optical drive and assign Z:

 

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddiskvolume8

Kindly run the
Hardware and Devices
troubleshooter to automatically repair any issue it finds. To run the troubleshooter, follow these steps:

• 
  On the search bar, type
  Troubleshooting
  and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  Choose
  Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Click on
  Hardware and Devices
  to run the troubleshooter.
  

After running the troubleshooter, perform a
check disk
and check if there are any changes. To perform check disk, follow these steps:

• 
  Open
  Command Prompt
  as
  Administrator.
  
• 
  Type
  chkdsk /r /f
  and hit
  Enter.
  

If possible kindly post a screenshot of the return message provided by the troubleshooter and the check disk command
if the issue still persists so that we can investigate this matter further.
