1. High ping problems made worse after a network reset

So I recently noticed high latency and ping problems when playing video games after using a certain software to run said games. I've since deleted the software but I still get very high ms on all of the games I play. I don't think its a router problem as I've reset, and my family members Who are connected to the same router don't seem to be getting the latency problems. When loading websites however, they seemed to load at a normal speed. I tried a network reset, but this only seemed to make things worse as now my loading of websites has gotten much slower too, and in the games that I play,

Why is my ping so high?

    Hi Scarlett,

Thank you for confirming that your network adapter drivers are up to date. I appreciate your efforts in performing the network reset as well.

If updating your network adapter drivers and resetting your network settings didn't resolve the high ping issue, there might be other factors at play. Since the issue seems to be specific to your Windows 11 PC, it's possible that there could be problems with your PC's network settings or hardware.

To further investigate and troubleshoot the issue, here are a couple of steps you can take:

    1. Run a virus scan.

    > Perform a thorough scan of your PC using reliable antivirus software to check for any potential malware or viruses that could be affecting your network performance.

    2. Check for background processes.

    > Ensure that there are no bandwidth-intensive processes running in the background on your PC. These processes can consume network resources and result in high ping.

    > You can use the Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to identify any applications or processes that might be utilizing a significant amount of network resources.

    3. Restart your computer. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

By performing these steps, you can gather more information and identify any potential causes that may be contributing to the high ping issue on your PC.

Please keep me posted Scarlett, I'm here to help you.

    Best regards,

  3. Windows 10 High Ping on Games

Is it before the CSGO update or after. Lots of people are reporting this issue after the update. They are saying that the new update has messed up the routing or something. I would suggest to try connection optimizer like Kill Ping. It will bypass all the
nodes in between and directly connect you to game server.

But first do these steps given in the guide for CSGO

    High Ping Help!!!!

You can try pinging your router to see if ping is excessively high between your computer and it. If it is you may have a faulty Ethernet cable or interference on your wireless network.

Type the following in the command prompt.
    Code: ping 192.168.1.1
You can also substitute IP addresses for various website URLs to see if you get varying pings from different websites.

    Code: ping www.google.com
The "tracert" command is also very useful for discovering where the latency is occurring between you and a designated location.

    for example:

    Code: tracert www.speedtest.net
this will give you a list of the amount of time it takes for your data to travel between each device it encounters on its way to www.speedtest.net. This is called a "hop".

If you have a long hop between your modem and the servers at your ISP (look for a hop with your ISP's name somewhere in its name) followed by short hops when the data leaves your ISP's infastructure then you know the trouble is with your ISP and not with your equipment. If you have consistently high ping throughout all hops you could have a malware problem

Knowing where the excess lag is occurring is the first step to figuring out how to fix it.
