  1. High PowerShell CPU Usage

Over the past few weeks, I've noticed a spike in my CPU usage. So I opened task manager and noticed that PowerShell.exe was using about 30% of my CPU and sometimes there were multiple of them. I immediately ended the task to see if that would fix it but it did not, it came back after a few minutes. I searched online for answers and thought that it might be a virus or something. So I scanned my computer with multiple anti-virus software and found nothing. I don't know what to do. I use Windows 10 and my specs are below.Device name DESKTOP-PVNRCPS Processor IntelR CoreTM i3-8130U CPU @ 2.20G

  2. Powershell and high cpu usage

I have a Toshiba Satellite running Win 10 with the latest update and Norton 360. At times programmes are unresponsive for some seconds. After startup but without running any programmes Task Manager shows spikes up to 100% of very high CPU and disk usage.
This is mainly caused by powershell 32 bit which starts, spikes and disappears all the time. I have disabled powershell but it has not stopped it appearing and disappearing from the list of processes. Is this normal? I might be incorrectly attributing
    unresponsive programmes to powershell activities.

I have scanned, using Norton, for security issues but nothing has been revealed.

There was a similar question on this topic some years ago but the thread closed before a solution was posted. Can anyone enlighten me please?

  3. high cpu usage

After downloading windows 10, anytime I run any programs, I get high CPU usage. It does not matter whether it is google chrome, task manager, playing games, whatever. Anything seems to spike the CPU usage. I have already run malwarbytes and my antivirus
programs and find no viruses. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Windows Explorer high CPU Usage in Windows 10

    Hi Andrew,

Usually, too many background processes can boost your CPU usage. Since you already disabled the apps that are not necessary on startup,
we suggest checking the applications running once you have successfully boot Windows 10. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

    • Click on the Start button and type Task Manager on the search box.
    • On the Task Manager window, you should see the programs running.
    • Click on the More details drop-down button to see the total number of apps running and their real-time CPU usage.

From there, you should see what applications are running on high CPU usage. You can also
restart the Windows Management Instrumentation service and see if your CPU performance will improve. Follow the instructions below to restart the service:

    • Click on the Start button and type Services.
    • Scroll down the list and look for Windows Management Instrumentation.
    • Right click on it and select Restart.

Should you have further questions, please let us know.
