Windows 10: High RAM consumption in DWM.exe process after Win10 Anniversary update

Anyone else having this problem?







my system is PT-BR, but the process eating 435mb is DWM.exe

Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) using high usage gpu?

why dwm.exe make high usange gpu?

when I play games or are designing 3D (all games)

dwm.exe rises to 80% or more in the usange gpu column. and make extreme fps drop ...

this strange usually dwm.exe just make ram or cpu usange to be high,

but now they make my usange gpu high. but my CPU, RAM and DISK are normal.

can you advise on this?

windows and my n-vidia drivers are up to date.

 

Desktop Window Manager Memory Leak

I had this problem with the
"dwm.exe" using a lot of memory, after installing Win10 anniversary update. The problem becomes most evident when playing games for a long time.

ETL archive - diagnose for 30 minutes with Windows performance toolkit:

After windows 10 startup, my PC stay with 1.6 GB of 16 GB memory (8 GB ram + 8 GB virtual memory managed by system) and "dwm.exe" use 83MB (40MB ram + 43 MB virtual):

After playing game for 30 minutes "dwm.exe" use 6.1 GB (2.2 GB ram + 3.9 GB virtual)

After playing game for approximately 2 hours "dwm.exe" depletes system memory using 16.5 GB (3.1 GB ram + 13.4 GB virtual) and "Out Of Memory" alerts message appear.

DWM.exe is responsible for all those sweet windows 10 effects.
Try these..
in control panel go to system>> advance system setting >> Performance >> settings .. Adjust for performance.. Reboot.

If still facing same issue, Try doing a sfc/scannow in elevated command prompt/

 

Hmmm but i don't believe that it is a normal behavior 400mb RAM usage even with all effects enabled. Something is not right.

 

Yes its definitely now.. and if you want to put efforts in fixing it.
Begin with a clean boot and see if a third party app is causing this.
Try a sfc/scannow.. run windows updates and run a dism repair.
My favorite way is Reset without deleting files.
