Windows 10: Hiragana in Microsoft IME is not working no matter what I do

Whenever I switch to Japanese and try to change to kanji or hiragana it just closes out and doesn't change at all. Even when I try keyboard shortcuts or try to change stuff in the settings, nothing changes and it just switches back to English for some reason! ;-; Please, can someone help?

Microsoft support suggests that you can use the hotkeys
to switch between input modes quickly:

• Press + to change the input language
• Press + to change to Hiragana
• Press + to change to Katakana
• Press + to toggle between alphanumeric and kana modes

As a side note: if you were really intent on making Hiragana your default input, you could write an
AutoHotkey script to do this for you. However, this involves understanding that scripting language.

Microsoft IME not working

Hi.

I've been trying to get Microsoft IME to work on Japanese, but it doesn't work, no matter what I do.

What I tried so far:

- Input a language (Japanese with IME selected as well) from Control Panel

- Download a language pack. And under Language Options it shows that Japanese is both enabled and installed

- Tried to click on the "Properties" option for Microsoft IME in the language input box and I get this message: "The property setting for Microsoft IME is not available"

When I select Japanese from the Language bar, I do have the "Microsoft IME" option, but when I select it, it won't expand to the other options (hiragana, katakana etc).

I'm not sure what happened, because it used to work and now suddenly it doesn't and I can't figure out why.

Can someone please help?
