Windows 10: History Drop Down in Search Deprecated in Windows 11 File Explorer?!

I just got a new computer which comes with Windows 11 of course. After wasting days trying to fix File Explorer, which I thought was corrupted as it wasn't showing what I'd previously searched for, I stumbled upon an article that said Microsoft had deprecated the feature! I'm shocked to say the least! I mean the option is still there in search to either select the typed item in the view or automatically type into the search box, but neither one works.I'm disgusted. And to make matters worse, it seems the Microsoft support doesn't have a clue. Yes, they try to help, but what's the point if the

File explorer search box history dispears after click Quick access

Windows 10 version 20h2

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open file explorer

2. type something in search box

3. clear search box

4. click search box again, you will see a drop down list showing recent search history

5. click the Quick access which is located at the top of file explorer Navigation pane

6. click search box again, it does not show the history list anymore

I have to close file explorer and open it again to get the search history back.

In any Windows 10 File Explorer window, a search bar can be found under the ribbon to the right side. When placing the cursor in this field, a drop down list appears of all previous searches. It can become quite long over time. I've been unable to find how that archived search history list can be cleared/erased. Can anyone help?

I have gone through all the steps in the following thread, but my file search history is not clearing or updating. Search terms clear, but the old search reappears with deleted files on it.
