  1. Hobbyist audio engineer wants some more in-depth info on Firewire

I'll start this thread off with the disclaimer that I am pushing some limits. Well, actually, I'm smashing some limits with a sledge hammer. Let me explain.I don't have a studio. I have an apartment with a room in the back that has enough room to fit a drum kit, a few amps, and a PA system. There isn't enough room for a desk with a computer and a monitor and near-field monitors, so I use my living room as a control room. I'm the type of person that doesn't have cable TV, so I have a PC connected to my TV anyway, and having the near-field monitors and a sub in the living room is also great for

    :)

    20H2 and Firewire/Audio issues

I have a MOTU Ultralike MK3 which I have connected through Firewire on my desktop.

    My specs:

    • ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 Motherboard
    • AMD 3800X
    • 32 Gb DDR4
    • Vantec PCIe Firewire interface with Ti chipset

Before my upgrade to 20H2 - my playback was quite stable but since this upgrade, I'm getting a bunch of weird playback glitches. That is not even under load. I just play a file in JRMC with the ASIO interface and I get multiple drop-outs glitches. The playback
definitely stops for 1 sec or so, there is no level showing up anymore during that second on my audio interface.

I changed two times already the firewire cable, and the firewire card as well.

My bios doesn't have a lot of options and I have the legacy 1394 driver installed which used to work quite nicely.

    Any suggestions?

Color bit depth is at 6-bit on Display properties of Windows 10 pro

Try the below suggested steps and check if the suggested options are available to change the Color bit Depth value

    1. Right click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
    2. Expand the Display, and then highlight the Change resolution.
    3. On the right side, check if there is 8 bpc listed under
      Output color depth.
    4. You may select 8 bpc and restart the device to witness the changes.
