Windows 10: Home File Explorer Takes time to Catalog My Computer

So in the last couple updates, I've noticed that when I open the new File Explorer Home, the left side takes a while to populate my folders. If I close out of File Explorer, and come back in, it can take 10-15 seconds before all the folders including my Favorites populate. If I am in a program and want to save a file, this takes even longer to see the folders I want to use. I have been inside the Control Panel left and right to try and figure out what's going on. I have rebooted, and a couple updates have happened since this problem started. I've removed all external drives, so it's just t

Computers Vanished From File Explorer But Network Still Works

I agree with @Try3. I have tried every suggested method to fix Windows networking suggested on these forums. All at best only worked for a short time. The only things that helped was:

1. Batch file I suggested in an earlier post
2. Creating shortcuts to computers on my home network

Note these two things are not fixes but workaround. However, at least they help and have never failed.

I have shortcuts set up for eight computers on my home network. I have created a folder on my desktop called My Network to hold the shortcuts. They have a mix of the following operating systems:

• Windows 10 - 4
• Windows 7 - 3
• Windows XP - 1

 

Windows 7 File Sharing between computers, PROBLEMS!!

Just do a file transfer in explorer from one computer to the other and see what speed you get. I would suggest avoiding homegroup and using a proper network setup instead.

Let's get this sorted out. We suggest you try these troubleshooting steps:

• Start the Windows in clean boot. To do this, follow the steps
  here.
• Once in clean boot environment, change the settings again to set it back to
  List. Normally, changing the view style in the bottom right of the window and exiting File Explorer should do the trick. The next time you open File Explorer, it should default to the last view style selected.
• If the issue persist, let's run SFC scan to look for corrupted files. Here's
  how.
• Restart the computer normally.
