    Home Network Mystery

Network Problem: Two PCs on my 5-PC home network are unable to access one particular PC. The other three PCs, including the “inaccessible” one, readily access each other. In other words, I have my intended two-way connectivity throughout except as stated above where I can only get one-way connectivity, Strangely, this problem exists despite having identical settings for “advanced sharing, etc,. etc.” on all 5 computers.System: Windows 10 and Window 11, Home edition, 64-bitI would appreciate comments, ideas, possible solutions from the community that may help me solve t

    :)

Windows 10 Wireless internet driver mysteriously stopped working.

    Hi Garrett,

Aside from updating and reinstalling the driver of the network adapters, what other troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

As a first troubleshooting step, we suggest that you run the Network troubleshooter. The Network troubleshooter may help diagnose and fix common connection problems. To run the Network troubleshooter:

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Network troubleshooter, and select
Identify and repair network problems from the list of results.
    • Follow the steps in the troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem.

We look forward to an update from you.

    Regards.

    Mystery Phone Listing on Network

That's actually been happening in Windows for a long time, even back to windows 8 I was seeing it randomly appear (it can be different devices). It seems to be some kind of false positive detection.

Some suggest that this is neighbors connecting to your wifi network. The idea is that the MAC address may be propogated, even though these neighbors are not actually authorized for your network (ie, your router is advertising these mac addresses, but they can't actually use your network, but for some reason they still show up in the list of connected devices).

When you check your WIFI router, the devices won't be listed there, since they haven't been given IP's.. but something in the network architecture still allows MAC advertisement.
