    I am having a home networking connection problem. My network consists of 2 desktops and 2 laptops. One desktop is running Windows 11, one desktop is running windows 10, one laptop is running windows 10 and the other laptop is running windows 7. I'll define a ‘yes connection’ is as computer x connected to computer y. In my network there are 24 possible connections. All was good until my xfinity gateway router/modem died on me. After the new gateway was installed my network only has 10 of the 24 possible connections that are ‘yes’. I know that the credent

    Wifi Connection using Xfinity modem

    Having problem connecting or holding wireless connection. Some devices like TV have a wireless connection. Others like windows laptop or kindle can't get a connection. Error message on Kindle is --authentication problem. Problems started when wifi could not connect to android cell phone. Got Xfinity to fix that I believe by reconnecting modem with password. I can connect my laptop if I hard wire. Xfinity maintains they fixed problem on their end now its a problem with my devices. I have tried to reconnect network adapter with not luck. Since I have been having intermittent connection with Xfinity could it be my 6 month old Xfinity modem? Any other suggestions for a non tech savy user.

    Wifi Connection using Xfinity modem

    An "authentication problem" suggests that you're using the wrong password. It's not at all clear what "Got Xfinity to fix that I believe by reconnecting modem with password" implies, but perhaps the Xfinity tech changed your wifi password.

    What do you mean by "I have been having intermittent connection with Xfinity"? Are you referring to connecting by wifi with your laptop or Kindle or do you mean that even when you connect to the Xfinity modem by Ethernet (cable) your connection sometimes drops out?

    View your wifi password and write it down. See several methods here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/view-change-wifi-password

    Now take a look at the wifi password saved on your laptop:

    If the password in your laptop is NOT the same as the one you viewed above, change it to match.

    While you're at this screen, write down the "Security type" and "Encryption type" should further troubleshooting be necessary.
