Homegroup not Functioning, cant leave homegroup

I cannot leave the homegroup. we had 2 computers in the network with windows 7 and windows 8.1. Windows 7 upgraded to windows 10. and the other one did a clean install of windows 8.1. Now i cannot leave the homegroup from windows 10 and the windows 8.1 has created a new homegroup(that PC didnot find the homegroup that windows 10 was part of) Now I cannot leave the homegroup or do anything with it. Is there a way to manually leave the homegroup. It says 'Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup"

    :)

  2. How to reset homegroup

My homegroup completly messed up, i resent reset my computer and what i didnt notice was that that computer was the admin or something over the homegroup. So whats happening now is that on my laptop i'm in the homegroup, however i cant change the password
nor even leave it. Also i cant connect to my homegroup on my standard PC i've reset. Is there any way to reset homegroup completely without the admin?

  3. can not delet Homegroup or change Homegoup Password

    Hi.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Let us follow the methods mentioned and check if it helps.

Let us right click on the "homeGroup' icon in the navigation pane and click on 'Change Homegroup settings'. In the setting window, click on 'Leave Homegroup'.

There's a lot of good information on this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Why-cant-I-create-a-homegroup(alos
    applies to windows 10)

I would like to point out the first troubleshooting step on that page which is "A homegroup already exists on the network. If a homegroup already exists, you will be asked to join it." I believe this is what you're seeing. If all your computers on
the network haven't left the old homegroup, you won't be able to create a new one.

The following link teaches how to leave a homegroup: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Leave-a-homegroup

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.

    Thank you.

Homegroup not Functioning, cant leave homegroup

You do not need to be connected to a network to leave a Homegroup, so my advice in the first instance would be, to disconnect the PC from the network and all unnecessary peripherals, restart the PC, navigate to ..

    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\HomeGroup

and select the option to leave the Homegroup.

No, that still does nothing. I cant do anything related to homegroup! Even after disconnecting the Lan cable and Restarting it gives the same error

Open Services and double check if Homegroup listener and Homegroup provider are running. If not turn them on so you can leave the Homegroup.

It sounds as though you may have a corrupted file or reg entry. How would you feel about a clean install/reset? Do you have many installed applications that would be difficult to reinstall?

Homegroup not Functioning, cant leave homegroup

    You can try:
    • Disable the 2 services mentioned above then restart your PC
    • Run CCleaner
    • Enable the services again and try to Leave the Homegroup.
