Windows 10: Horizontal Lines on Asus Laptop Windows 11

Hello. I'm trying to fix a problem I have where my laptop sometimes has flickering, horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen. I tried to take a screenshot to show it, but to my surprise, they didn't appear on the image. I tried to find an image online that looks similar. The closest is on this page https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/bottom-half-of-monitor-flickering-horizontal-lines.3745927/ but they don't go up quite as far.It's difficult to treat because, since it appears so intermittently, it's hard to tell if it's still there. In most cases, colored horizontal lines on the screen are an indication of hardware failure, particularly with the video and graphics card or the screen itself. The chances of this being software related may be very rare, so we'd like to ask you a few things
to better assess and isolate the situation and give you the most appropriate advice:

• Laptop model
• How old is your laptop/ How long have you been using it?
• Did you make any significant changes in your system before it happened? (e.g. installing software, changing settings, etc.)
• Do the colored lines also appear on the screen when you first turn it on (BIOS or boot startup) or does it only appear when you're logged in?
• Do you encounter any specific error messages when the screen freezes?

Here are some of the things you can do for basic troubleshooting and isolation:

• If you have a second monitor, try to connect it to your laptop and see if the lines still appear.
  
• Perform a hard reset on your laptop (press and hold the power button to turn it off then remove it from the power supply). This will clear all the residual power that may have accumulated during use.
• If you installed new software before the issue began, we suggest uninstalling them (if possible) to see if it makes any difference.

horizontal lines after windows 10 upgrade

Hi,

Just upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 and now I have horizontal lines across the screen. Lines are thicker on the left side of the screen. Asus PT2001 Intel core i5.

Horizontal grey lines on display

Hi

There's are strange grey lines appearing on a computer when it is connected to a terminal server. The display on the right is from an external monitor, the one on the left ist from the Laptop. When the external display gets turned off, the lines appear on the Laptop's display. However, when the user starts Word directly on the Laptop, there are no lines.

When connections are initiated from other computers or other users, there is no display issue either. Also the lines cannot be seen from another computer via isl light client (remote-support tool).





What irritates me most is the fact that the lines are not completely from left to right but are all intterupted on the white background regardless of the window border or the page layout from the shown Word document. Also that the picture is a screenshot and didn't need to be done with a camera to see the lines is strange after they didn't show up during remote support.

Any suggestions concerning the most probable cause - graphics card failure, driver issue or something else?
