Windows 10: Host file reverts after moving it to "etc" folder

Hello all,When I add lines to my host file, I am able to save it to my desktop with all changes intact. But when I move the file to the etc folder in Windows 10, the changes I made are removed. Changes that prevent a specific website from accessing my computer. I use Notepad as administrator. It is only when I transfer the modified host file to its "etc" folder that the line change is removed.Perhaps the specific website in question has installed a hidden program in the Host file that prevents it from keeping my changes when the file is transferred to the "etc" folder?Not

Hosts file editing

I have to jump in and say I use, and have used the host file for years. It's an easy way to take stress off of old name servers. I don't add everything, but major shares I do add to the host file. I've used the host file for some tunneling as well. I try to optimize my network as much as possible and I have a solid network. But Easy Rhino is right as well, you'll want to have everything he suggested as well. *Toast :toast:

Files remain in original folder after moving them to new folder in file explorer

The issue that you’ve encountered regarding the File Explorer may be caused by some configuration or files mismatched. To sort out your concern, we suggest that you reset the folder settings from the
Folder Options. This will reboot the folder’s preferences to its default state and remove any possible software conflict. To do this, you may follow these steps:

• Click Start, type File Explorer, and press
  Enter.
• On the File Explorer window, click the View tab > Options > Change folder and search options > View.
• Under the Folder views section, click Reset Folders, and then select
  Yes to confirm.
• Once you’re done, click OK, and then check if the issue persists.

Note: This process will remove the list of files that you recently opened.
