Windows 10: Host process for windows Stopped working

Twice this week, my computer has apparently has apparently had a runaway process. The drive light is on solid, and i may or may not get a response from the mouse depending on when I move it. Both times, i have just set the computer aside and waited for it to respond. The first time it took about 30 minutes. The second time it was about 15. I have seen this message in reliability monitor several times, and two of the times it was when the computer stopped responding. I have no idea what is causing this or how to resolve it. I have run sfc /scannow, and dism /online /cleanup-image /restor

Hi, in reply to previous correspondents. I tried the Forum suggested by 'jdc1' and while there have been many viewers there is no suggestion of remedy - so far.
Searching further in this matter I find that a similar post also appears in this Forum - see here:

and once again many viewers but no remedy.

Where there are numerous complainants for this problem. There is one reply ( to-date) of a suggested solution by Microsoft which appears not to be the cure and quite a few more insistent*Devil posts for Microsoft to get this sorted.
The posts themselves include suggested cures like sfc/scannow and DISM which I like many others have tried to no avail. There seems to be a strong leaning towards blaming the 1903 update for this error. One person does indicate a solution which worked for him which is to via System & Storage to click the box to run now and remove earlier Windows Updates. I have just tried this myself and will report the result within the next few days.
Other correspondents are awaiting for further answers in the 'Community' from Microsoft.
So once again time will tell but it would appear that Microsoft are dragging their heels on this one.

Since the update on 6/20/19 (or there abouts) I have been getting the following error seen in Reliability Monitor.
"Host process for windows tasks - stopped working"

System appears to run fine yet the error occurs almost every other day.

Modern host stopped working

Modern Setup Host Has Stopped Working

If you have sufficient space to install Windows 10 on your computer, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Open Windows Explorer.
• Navigate to “C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download”
• Delete everything in this folder.
• Now Open Command Prompt with administrator.
• Type wuauclt.exe /updatenow
• Press Enter key.
