Windows 10: Hotspot makes me lose 99% of my internet speed

When i turn on the hotspot on my computer it makes me lose like 99% internet speed on the computer but the hotspot connection is great. Whenever i turn it back off it just returns to normal. This started to happen like 1 week ago.

I need to have the hotspot on for me to be able to access Wifi on my cellphone since in this part of the house i dont get connection from the router.

Slow Internet speed on only one computer.

Hi Cody,

Slow internet speed on one of your computer could be due to the following:

• Outdated network adapter driver
• Different Wi-Fi chipset
• Computer processing speed

Make sure that the network driver of your computer(s) are always updated.

We also suggest you to contact your internet service provider for them to check your internet connection speed and give you more information.

How to Disable mobile hotspot SSID

Hello Jimbo,

To better assist you, please follow the steps on how to turn off mobile hotspot on your Windows 10 device:

• Open Settings, click Network & Internet icon
• Click / tap on Mobile Hotspot on the left side, and turn off Share your Internet connection with other devices.
  
• Any devices currently connected to your mobile hotspot will lose connection.

Hotspot internet using Bluetooth

In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, we would need some information.

1. Are you trying to create a hotspot through Bluetooth on your PC?
   
2. What is the version and
   build
   of you operating system? In the Search box, type
   winver to get this info.
   
3. What is the Make and the model of the Phone and Computer?
   

If you want to create a Hotspot on your PC, suggest you to refer this article
Use your PC as a mobile hotspot.



As you have mentioned that you want to use Bluetooth to connect to internet, you will need to enable the Bluetooth Tethering option on your phone and then connect the phone through Bluetooth with the PC.



If you are using an iPhone, please refer the section Connect to Personal Hotspot with Bluetooth
