    Hotspot name changing on windows


    Hi,


    I have named my hotspot as "Jun's JioFi3_B37E4B"


    But when i connect my laptop everytime an additional digit gets added. For example Juns JioFi3_B37E4B 4 or 1,2,3 and so on.


    Sometimes it changes to Network 21 and the given hotspot same changes completely.



    Kindly advise what needs to be done, I'm really worried as I already had a moba ransomware attack and my laptop was just reformatted.

    The network name and password that you see on your mobile hotspot is automatically set by Windows as default. If you wish to change these information, you can follow the steps below:

    • Type Settings in the search box and press Enter.
    • Select Network and Internet.
    • Select Mobile hotspot.
    • Click Edit.
    • Type in your desired network name and password.
    • Click Save.

    Hi,

    You may change the password of your mobile hotspot so that the person you don't allowed to use it can't connect to it. To assist you better, we'd like to know if you've tried changing the password. Which build and version of Windows 10 are you using?

    In the meantime, we suggest that you follow these steps below on how you can change the password of the Mobile hotspot.:

    • Open Settings then select Network & Internet.
    • Choose Mobile hotspot.
    • Under Mobile hotspot section, you can see the current name of the Wi-Fi hotspot and password. To change mobile hotspot name or password or both, click the
      Edit button.
    • Enter a new password for the network. Click Save button. Note that the password must be of at least 8 characters.

    We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

    • Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
    • Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
    • Reboot your PC.
    • Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.
