Windows 10: Hover stays after moving cursor Windows 10

Stopping cursor hovering

I have a new Lenovo laptop with Windows 10 Pro. I cannot turn off the hovering feature that changes windows everytime the cursor hovers over a new window. I am using the touchpad, not a mouse. I have followed the published instructions of unclicking the "Activate a window by hovering..." box and restarting the computer (several times) with no success. this unwanted feature is making staying on task while using this computer almost impossible. What is my solution?

 

Mimicking mouse / cursor hover behavior with touch

I have searched forums for a solution to the missing cursor hover behavior in Win 10 with
touch, and I would add to those but they are all closed. (Such as

The work around I have found is to use the on-screen (virtual) touchpad. It can be enabled on taskbar just like the virtual keyboard, per attached screenshots.

So whenever you need to hover to find a menu or function, rather than messing around with touch & hold, enable the virtual touchpad and then move the cursor to where you need with it.

If there is another solution that doesn't require this additional step, please let me know.

This problem mostly impacts my Kindle reader has a hover menu not available by touch. I'd use this even more for columns to resizing in File Explorer or Outlook (which work okay via touch but can get messy) but the virtual touchpad doesn't have the grab
and move functionality.

Window 10 - When I hover over a taskbar icon, I want to see the preview list of open objects FOREVER (til I move my mouse). I learned how to change it from icons to a list, but now I want it to stay as long as my mouse pointer is hovering over the icon on
the taskbar. Currently it only shows for a couple of seconds. I don't want a couple of additional seconds. I want the list of object to stay on the screen til I move my mouse.

It was possible in Windows 7. I hope it's possible in Windows 10.
