I opened up task manager today just to leave it running in the background, and now whenever I hover over it or other open applications in the taskbar they start glowing red. Also hovering over the open application in the taskbar instantly sometimes makes it pop up for some reason, yes I tried closing task manager, the problem is still present. It's obviously not a huge deal but it can get annoying when you accideantly hover over it when doing something.

    :)

Hovering over taskbar makes screen go black

Thank you for the information. We'd like to run the following:

    • Open Task Manager and look for Windows Explorer in the Processes tab.
    • Right-click it and select End task for the taskbar to disappear.
    • Right-click any installed applications that you'll see in the Processes tab and select the
      Open file location option.
    • Click the File tab in the new window that will appear. Select Open Windows Powershell > Open Windows Powershell as administrator > type
      explorer.exe to open taskbar.

Also, you can check the following instructions on this link to have additional troubleshooting
steps for the Start menu which can correct any issues with Cortana as well. If the problem disappears, then it's due to a corrupted profile. If not, then run the
driver verifierto check illegal functions of your drivers that may have corrupted
    the system.

Keep us posted after performing the troubleshooting steps.

    Hi,

To further assist you, we suggest for you to follow these steps:

    • Hover to the open application on the taskbar.
    • You'll get a miniature Preview screen of the said application.
    • Hover your mouse over the Preview screen.
    • Right click on Restore.
    • Re-hover over the same Preview screen.
    • Right click on Move.
    • Use the arrow keys to move the application on your desired screen/position.

Let us know how it goes.

Hovering over taskbar makes screen go black

My computer recently updated to Windows 10 version 10.0.15063.

After working for a few hours, when I hover over or click icons (of open apps), in the taskbar (with the exception of the start button and search) my screen will go black. I can click on the screen and it will intermittently return, and eventually I can
get back to whatever window I happened to click, but it effectively renders useless the ability to change between windows using the taskbar.

    Some details:

If only one instance of a particular app is open, I can click it quickly and it works fine, but if I hover too long, black screen.

If multiple instances are open (normally would get a pop-up of choices), black screen at pop-up.

I can open apps that are not currently open.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?? It's really obnoxious.
