Windows 10: How are my old background pictures appearing on fresh reinstall of Windows 10?

I've recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my laptop, which for a while I had running on Linux and had swapped a different HDD into it because the old one stopped working. Then I had some issues with Linux and so formatted everything and created a Windows installation USB on different PC that I used to install Windows on my laptop again.During the set up I've signed into my outlook account. After everything finished and loaded I saw that my Windows background wallpaper is a picture that I might've had as a background some 3-4 years ago, then it changed to another one I had ages ago, really earie

I would suggest you to try the following steps:

• 
  Open Desktop Background by right clicking on the desktop clicking Personalization
  
• 
  Click the picture or color that you want to use for your desktop background.
  
• 
  If the picture you want to use isn't in the list of desktop background pictures, click an item in the Picture location list to see other categories, or click Browse to search for the picture on your computer.
  When you find the picture that you want, double-click it. It will become your desktop background.

To address this concern, we suggest that you follow these steps on how to change back the background time to 10 seconds:

• Press Windows key+R to open the Run window.
• Type this command: control /name Microsoft.Personalization /page pageWallpaper to open old Control Panel settings, and then click
  OK.
• Select your preferred desktop background and under "Change picture every" option, choose
  10 seconds.
• Click Save changes.

To get better clarity on the issue please do let us know if you are referring to Lock Screen background pictures.

If yes, I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

• Press Windows + I key on the keyboard.
• Go to Personalization.
• Click on Lock screen and chose the desired picture.
