  1. How can Cloning Damage the Source read drive?

On my old Windows 10 PC I used to regularly clone my SSD C drive to another SSD as a backup. The software I used was Aeomi Backerupper and it performed flawlessly. A few months ago I bought a new Windows 11 PC built for me. It has a 2TB NVME2.1 Kingston SSD. I decided to do cloning on the PC using the same software so I installed another 2TB NVME drive from Lexar. This one went into a 2.3 slot as there was only a single 2.1. Using the Aeomi I successfully cloned the Kingston drive many times. Then one day after cloning when I rebooted with the source Kingston drive boot up was very slow and th

  2. Is it any possibility to clone BitLocker Encrypted Drive with Windows OS ?

    Hi Jaspreet Singh

Let me explain why I would like to remove decryption and reencryption from cloning process. The idea is to use cloning process to prepare 1:1 backup of my master OS drive. It means that cloning process will be repeated as often as possible for the same source drive, so the time of whole cloning process is very important to me.

You say "it is highly recommended", from technical point of view it suggests that cloning process does not need decryption/reencryption. Your recommendation is to do 2 steps more because "sth can go wrong". It is not my case because I still have the source disk and can repeat cloning process and check cloned drive.

The question about tool like AOMEI backup is: the tool needs my bitlocker pin to perform decryption, copy and encryption operations on the fly ? (I do not need tools working this way) If no, does it mean that such tools make "simple" copy of encrypted sectors and that's all ? My experience is different, simple copy of encrypted drive does not work. So some more additional steps are needed, those steps are big ones (decryption and reencryption) or maybe some smaller steps ...

So, I must have or it is nice to have decryption and reencryption in cloning process ?

Do You know how exactly cloning encrypted drive works on AOMEI backup ?

  3. cloneing a drive in windows 10

Hi,I have this question last year, but my os is windows 8.there are my steps of

How to clone drive in winodws

    ,you can check.hope that helps

First,I download a free tool of MiniTool partition wizard and launch it.

Step 1. Connect SSD to Windows 8. Install and launch MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition, select the source hard drive and then choose “Copy

Step 2. Select a disk to copy the source disk. Here you are expected to choose the SSD (we choose disk 3).

Note: All the data on SSD will be destroyed, so make sure you have done backup in advance. You are allowed to clone a hard drive to a smaller SSD, as long as it can hold all data in the source disk. You can also clone SSD to larger SSD by using MiniTool
    Partition Wizard Free Edition.

Step 3. Review the changes you are going to make and also change the copy options if necessary.

Step 4. MiniTool Partition Wizard will tell you how to boot from the destination hard drive. So if you are cloning boot drive to SSD, you need to pay attention.

Step 5. When you are lead to the main interface again, you can preview the changes you are going to make from the middle pane. (Here disk 3 has the same disk layout with disk 1.) If you confirm these
changes, you should click “Apply” to make the changes effective. Hope that helps
