Windows 10: How can I add a new program to the Open With dialog list

None of the search results answered this specific question...I can't figure out how to open an add screen with which to select a program and add it to the current list for a given file type.

Any feedback will be most appreciated.

Maybe you might try right clicking that .Zulu file & select Open With.. More apps... and scroll to the bottom of the list and 'Look for another app on this PC' then you can find your Zulupad program.

This will work for a while. - until MS overrides your set program at the next reboot or Win update. Why is it necessary, MS, to repeatedly interfere with the desired default set up? You certainly will not gain favors among users by pressing for what you
would want users to use. In fact, the option "Always use this app.." is not even offered in current win 10. MS provides annoying instructions to reset programs through the Control Panel (your resets then to be again and again overridden by MS set up as described
above.)

 

Right click item►Open with...►Choose another app►More apps►scroll down to 'Look for another app on this PC'

Once you choose another app, it'll be added to the list.

 

Thanks...I did that but the app does not show up on the list. I checked the registry key and the app is indeed listed there. Is there a limit on how many apps can be displayed in the list?

 

This is similar to what happened to me before. What operating system do you use?

 

You have to go look for the desired application's .exe on your PC

Note:
The result will only apply to that file type in the current folder type area;
for example, it may apply to .jpg's in your Pictures folder, but you may have to repeat the process for .jpg's on your Desktop.
