  1. How can I add custom background images to folders in Windows 10?

I want to customize the background of some of my folders (not the thumbnail!) to give them some individual flair and I remember this being a thing back in Windows XP and also possible in Windows 7, but no such option exists on Windows 10 it seems.

I did some googling on the subject and found a partial solution using QTTabBar and Watermarks, but it only allows up to 5 different images, one for each category of "optimize this folder for:" which is quite limiting.

So my question is, does anyone here know of another way to add custom background images for folders that is not limited to 5. I don't mind using a third party tool or even some registry fiddling (as long as it doesn't break things of course).

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
