Hey.After some help please. What am I missing? Two questions of I may:-1. Why is it that Explorer Library folders I set up do not seem to allow me to pick up ‘individual’ documents Files?Instead it seems that I can only reference other entire ‘Folders’. That contain say 10 of my Type A files as an example. This then results in all 10 ‘Type A ‘ files showing in my virtual Library Creating the muddle of loads of documents that I want to avoidI am after a virtual folder type principle where I can pull all key files from a my wider folder storage tree relating to say a project. Not just

Contents of folder included in Documents Library not Displayed

I'm using Windows 10 on a Dell laptop with a SSD. I'm keeping many files on an external USB hard drive. I had included the external drive's Documents folder in my Documents library. The File Explorer displayed files and folders on both the internal SSD and the external drive in the Documents library folder. The Navigation pane displayed the folders from the external drive under the Documents icon in Quick Access, This PC and Libraries. Unfortunately, the laptop failed and it was returned with Windows 10 (version 1709) installed.

After I included the same external drive Documents folder in the Documents Library, File Explorer displayed the external drive folders under the Documents folder. It only displayed the folders on the C:\ drive in the Quick Access Documents library and the This PC libraries. I've spent hours using Google with no luck.

Here is what is shown when I click on the Documents icon in Quick Access:

Here's what I see when I click on the Documents icon under Libraries:

Manage Libraries shows that the folder has been incuded

Does anyone have a suggestion that might allow folders to be displayed under the Documents icons?

    Thanks

  3. Windows 11 > File Explorer > Libraries > View > Change default view for all folders and sub-folders of all Libraries listed?

You need to use the same process for one of each 'Type' of folder? I did that for each 'Type' of folder in Home > Quick access - Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos - and it did not set the preferred view for any of the libraries and sub-folders in Home > Quick access > Libraries.

I did the same in This PC > Folders - Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos, Desktop - still did not set the preferred view for any of the libraries and sub-folders in Home > Quick access > Libraries.

Everything else in Home > Quick access? 'yes' the view is List but not for Home > Quick access > Libraries.

I open Libraries the view is is my preferred view 'List' but all the libraries and sub-folders are view 'Details.

Highlight any library, set view List and set Options > View > Apply, the view within that library remains Details. I have to change to View manually in that particular library and the same individually for each and every sub-folder despite the fact that the original folder and sub-folders are view List before the new library was created. It's as if all sub-folders are created 'view Details' when a new library is created instead of maintaining the view set in the original folder.

I very much appreciate that Quick Access is a virtual location but why is it that whilst all my original folders and sub-folders are view List, creating a new library results in all the library sub-folders being view Details?

Contents of folder included in Documents Library not Displayed

Pin Documents (Library) to Quick access, instead of User folder Documents. Library has blue line under it. You can then unpin User folder from Quick access . You can see both of them pinned in my picture
