Windows 10: How can I bypass or delete a sign in password on a HP desktop that has Win 98 on it?

I have a HP Laptop with WIN 98 on it. I wanted to see what I have on it, before I try to install WIN 10 on it. Can anyone tell me how I can bypass or delete the password on sign on?

So I was reading all these different threads about how to bypass password, ok so if you are trying to bypass the password on the sign in screen, obviously that means you can't sign in so why would all these people give instructions that still requires one to sign in? Isn' t that kind of defeating the purpose, i mean it was asked how to bypass the password so does anyone know the real way without being required to sign in since you shouldn't have to sign in to bypass the password otherwise what would be the purpose of trying to bypass it if you can sign in???

 

Ways to bypass the login theme and signin do not work

Tried setting netplwiz in option 1 step 4 which shows no check in users must enter ..... no bypass of login

Tried step 4 in option 5 below to disable require sign-on on wakeup via policy via registry but still no change on wakeup still getting the screen picture that requires hitting Esc to move to the sign in window which shows a silhouette image, my user name and a sign in button in order to access my desktop screen. Guess I will have to live with the extra steps.

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.
