Windows 10: How can I cancel or stop OneDrive from syncing all files

I use one drive to back up a couple of critical excel files that I access/modify frequently. something happened today and I could not access these critical files - messages were maybe they've moved no, open already no, corrupted somehow...I'm not sure what I did, but eventually opened one drive live, and was able to access the files.Now I'm freaking out and worried because I think the other/all? files are syncing, appearing on my desktop, not updating my critical files and who knows what else.I admit I am mystified about one drive. I am ok with using pc/technology not a programmer or an
