Windows 10: How can I change multiple file icons opening with the same program?

I tried changing sql files to a new custom icon (using FileTypesMan by NirSoft). The issue is that now php files use the same icon - if I change php files, it changes sql.



Basically, multiple file types are linked together - how can I unlink them (while still opening with the same program)

FileTypesManager gives a warning while making the changes like:

Notice - Changing the properties of this file type may affect the following extensions: .php, .py, .sql

It's certainly possible on Windows, I know that Adobe does this with their suite of programs, namely Dreamweaver.

Suggestion to finally have proper separate Options window like most (all?) Windows programs do.

 

Can't change default program to open files.

Hi,

I'm trying to change the default program for .dwg files from Autocad to Draftsight.

I already tried:

• right click > open with > choose another app > always use this app. The file opens in Draftsight without problems, but it still opens with Autocad the next time you double click a dwg file.
• settings > apps > default apps > choose default apps by file type. This also does not change the default method to Draftsight.

When I type assoc .dwg in command prompt, it shows ".dwg=DraftSight.Drawing"

I see some suggestions to try using the old interface through control panel, but it seems like control panel routes to the new interface.

I also tried changing the association for .txt files from notepad to notepad++ and it doesn't work either.

Any ideas?

Excel Icon on taskbar does not open file, only program

Hi Wayne,
You haven't moved or renamed these Excel files, have you?
Does the same problem also happen with Word?
You could try repairing your office installation.
Right-click on the Start Button and select Control Panel>Programs and Features; wait for the list of installed programs to populate, then highlight Microsoft Office; click CHANGE up above the window, then REPAIR. You may have 2 repair options; if so, try the local one first and see if that does the trick.
