Windows 10: How can I change the disk number of NVME SSD Boot to DISK-0 in Disk Management in Windows 11?

HI, I have my OS installed on NVME SSD physically installed on motherboard and other drives are connected using SATA cables. But for some reason, the boot drive NVME SSD always shows DISK 5 Last Disk in disk management. So far on the forums, people suggest to switch ports but I have only one NVME SSD port on my motherboard. Also, I tried to boot pc just with boot drive and disconnected all other drive. Then it showed my boot drive as DISK 0 but as soon as I connect other drives, it again goes to last. What should I do?

Hi, My computer contained a normal HDD hard drive. I recently upgraded to a SSD. The original HDD is Disk 0 and the new SSD is Disk 1. The windows OS is on Disk 1. I want to dual boot my system with Windows and Ubuntu with both OS being on the SSD. Since
the SSD is Disk 1 the Ubuntu install goes directly to Disk 0 because Disk 0 is first on the list. How can I switch the two Disks so my SSD drive is Disk 0? Thanks.

 

How do I change the NVMe SSD to Disk 0 and HDD to Disk 1. Whether it will creates a problem in future or it's OK to use.

Swaping cables is mandatory or else we use disk 0 for hdd and disk 1 for nvme ssd (i.e., OS installed disk). Please suggest me.

i dont know how to fix your disk management, but i can fix your partition problems...




open up Command Prompt with admin rights. (Right click, run as admin)


enter in
DISKPART
list disk

then find the Disk number for your Raid array... lets call it number 7 ( you can tell what disk is what by the total size)
type in

Select Disk 7
List Partition (will give you a list of all the partitions..)
Select Partition 1 (im assuming you only have 1 partition on Disk 7) repeat this step if you have more partitions.
ASSIGN


that should get the array up and running ready to use.
