Windows 10: How can i change the user name attached to my Microsoft account Username folder

anytime i setup a new pc with my microsoft account my user name folder is automatically named and that name was from my first pc and even made a mistake typing it so at first find it difficult to get the address to folder. i just want to change it i have even tried using the administration user to change it but when i setup a new one the old user name still appear. please i will be very grateful if windows gives that option, or if there is a way.

I've just reinstalled Win10 and created a second account for my wife. Unfortunately, the login names is the mail she's registered to Microsoft.

How can I change the name.

I've read an answer to same question suggesting following:

• Press Windows key + X key.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Under view, select large icons.
• Go to User Account.
• Click on Manage another account

I don't have that option in Win10.

Is it possible change the name of the user folder?

Hi all,

I recently installed Windows 10 and in the process created a user. A few days later I noticed that anoyingly the folder name of the user folder is spelt wrong (or rather the two last letters are simply missing). It seems there is an actual user name
and then one (or more) display name(s). The display name is correct, but the actual username used in the folder name is wrong.

I search for a solution on how to change the username in the correct way so that all things attached to the user still will be attached to the user after the name change has been done, if that is at all possible to do. I didn’t find any good solution to this.

Any ideas?

EDIT: I found out that Microsoft takes the first five letters in the email adress you use in your Microsoft account and uses that as name for the user folder. That is why it looks like it does.

I understand that you are facing issues with changing the folder name under Users folder in Windows 10.

I suggest you to perform the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Open the File Explorer and double click on C drive.

2. Open Users folder from the list.

3. Click on the user name folder and then tap on F2 Key.

4. Change the name of the folder and hit on Enter Key.

5. It will ask for Administrator Permission and click on Ok.

6. Folder name will be changed.
