    How can I clear a spyware/riskware pop-up screen which is a phishing.


    I got a pop-up screen which said to call Microsoft at an 888 number within 5 minutes because of spyware/riskware of pornographic nature. I turned off the computer, did not call the number. I tried to close the screen but it would not close, so I turned offf the computer and have not turned it back on. What should I do next?

    malicious pornographic spyware alert

    That's a fake alert/warning pop up, usually with a phone number to call. It's a so called Tech Support Scam.

    It does not necessarily mean that your computer is infected and those pop ups are in general easy to close.

    What really helps is the use of a good browser together with a good advertisment etc blocker and a good Anti-Virus program.

    Personally I use Firefox, uBlock Origin, Emsisoft Anti-Malware.
