Windows 10: How can I control the brightness of my monitor with my keyboard's brightness controls?

I bought the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop keyboard. It has brightness function keys. They obviously work because the brightness slider appears in the upper left corner of the screen but the actual brightness doesn't react to the changes.

Until now I have been using an app called ClickMonitorDDC which is capable of changing my monitor's brightness. But it was a workaround and I was hoping that this keyboard would be able to change brightness with the buttons.

Is there a way to make it work or is there some other problem I'm missing?

My monitor is Acer VG240Y.

Sorry, this is not a laptop. It is an older pc with some scavenged parts and my keyboard has no brightness control
