Windows 10: How can I convince Windows 10 that I have no ethernet connection?

I asked elsewhere and got an answer pertaining to the ethernet thingy showing on the connection icon I see in the Action Center see attached image. The Yoga C940 has no ethernet port and the only thing plugged into one of the USB-C ports is the power.Is there a way in Windows 10 to convince it that I do not have an ethernet connection?

Connected to ethernet but Windows not totally convinced

I've called the Microsoft helpline but unfortunately they were unable to resolve the issue.

Earlier today the pc crashed and needed rebooting. OS Build is 14393.693 if that is of any use.

After that, the symptoms were that Microsoft Edge could not connect to the internet and neither could Microsoft Store. Spotify and Steam were both able to, and the network icon showed an ok connection (Ethernet).

I called the support line and got as far as clearing the cache and disabling all non-Microsoft services before they were stumped.

Since then, I've reset the network adapter and now have fully functioning internet connections... except Windows doesn't think so. It doesn't think it is connected to a network at all. Edge and Store both work of course.

Going to Network & Internet settings brings up the Network Status screen that tells me I'm not connected to a network. Changing to the Ethernet screen shows Ethernet connected.

How can I convince Windows that it is connected to a network? It doesn't show up at all in Network & Sharing Centre, and the troubleshooter has no idea there is a problem.

So this issue has been annoying me since i have changed my old i5-4670 with a ryzen.

Ethernet: Realtek 8111H (MSI X370 Gaming Plus)
Modem/Router: Airties Air 5760

What i have tried so far to fix my issue:

• Re-installing Windows
• Updating Ryzen chipset drivers
• Updating Realtek LAN drivers (both from MSI & Realtek)
• Updating MSI' LAN releated drivers (MSI Gaming Lan Manager)
• Replacing ethernet cable
• Restarting router to factory settings

Still no luck, keeps happening randomly. Sometimes it is stable for days then it is not stable for 20 mins. Happening when gaming or idle, or while streaming via steam link.
Windows' own issue fixer thingy fix the issue for the moment, re-plugging the cable, disabling & enabling the ethernet adapter also fixes the issue for the moment.
Also i am the only one having this issue in the network, TV and phones are still connected to wifi.

It is started to be real annoying, so time to get help to fix the issue from TPU. Thanks in advance! *I Love TPU :lovetpu:

I suggest checking out the event log in Windows. It's likely going to tell you why (to some degree,) why the network connection was lost. I haven't had this issue with wired connections but, with wireless it has almost always come down to drivers or a strange software bug which boiled down to how the driver operates.
