  1. How can I create a second network connection on a single NIC

I need to have to different TCPIP configurations on one network connection, so was wondering if there is a way to create a second network connection in windows and just enable/disable the one I want to use without having to change TCP settings.

    Here is the scenario:

For work I use normal basic DHCP settings for the day to day tasks, but for some specific tasks I need to connect to a secured server that needs me to have a specific IP address and DNS settings, right now I have to go in and change these manually every time, I was wondering if I could make a copy of my network connection (i.e. have Ethernet 2 and create and Ethernet 3) so I can configure the copy with the static TCP/IP settings and just disable one and enable the other to change between TCP configurations without having to add them manually every time I need to change.

I use a laptop so adding a NIC is not an option.

    Thanks

Windows 10 connect second NIC to private network without gateway

I have set up a test network for storage. The storage network is using 10.10.10.0/24 IP range and has no router or gateway. Each NIC is manually assigned an IP address in the 10.10.10.0/24 range and no gateway is configured. This is working great for the servers and the storage devices.

I've installed a second NIC in my windows 10 computer and would like to be able to use that to connect to the storage network to manage the storage devices through their 10.10.10.xx IP address.

So far I cannot connect to or ping any machines on the 10.10.10.0/24 network. I think I'm missing a step where I have to tell windows when to use that second network but I'm not sure how to do this in windows. How do I achieve this result?

Why windows 10 creates a second wireless network?

The issue usually happens when you change your network password. Your PC remembered the last network successfully and when you've changed, it created another as you have set your network to automatically connect to the first one.

We suggest removing the network that you're not connected to. Follow the steps below:

    • Click Start or press the Windows button on your keyboard.
    • Click Settings and choose Network & Internet.
    • Click Wi-Fi and then choose Manage known networks.
    • Choose the network the duplicate network and click Forget.

    Let us know the results.

    Losing network connection

As has been suggested..make sure your chipset/NIC drivers are up-to-date.

In addition, make sure any and all power saving features are disabled for the NIC - I've seen very similar problems caused by Windows suspending the NIC when idle and when it resumes - no connectivity.
