How can I create a spreadsheet where a cell increases by 1 until the number in another cell reaches zero and does not surpass zero. The number in the second cell is part of a formula that uses the first cell. Is that possible? I created a spreadsheet with my current savings growing at a specific rate year by year till I'm 100 years old. Then I have a column that has a constant amount withdrawn on a yearly basis. The more I withdraw yearly the smaller the savings get as I reach 100 years of age. I would like to create a formula that increases or reduces the yearly withdrawals so that the amoun

Blocking Cell Phone Numbers

Here's one way to get around the problem. It's kludgy but it should work.

Get a VOIP based phone service or a magic jack. For 24/7 access, you're better off with VOIP that uses an ethernet adapter, but that's up to the user.

The important point is to find one that lets you create your own "black list" of callers. Usually they will have both black and white list options and these are usually a subcategory under the "do not disturb" or similar feature.

The provider will usually let you create a second number for $5-10 per month. You'll use this for your cell phone number. If it is ever compromised, you can change it easily without affecting the base number.

Forward the second number to your cell phone and give everyone that one as your "cell phone" number. There will be a delay of a few seconds as calls get routed, but who cares. It's not like any of us is on Obama's speed dial right?

Now when you get assholes calling you, just add them to the black list.

You can also block calls w/o caller id this way if your cell phone co. doesn't already do that for you.

Realize Excel is not designed to be a word document. Typically, a cell would hold a title or some short text far less then 255 characters. With that if you need far more than the cell limitation, you could either insert a Word document... Insert an object in your Excel spreadsheet. There's also the option to link to documents such as Word, PDF or website from within Excel *Wink

At the end of the day, you're not going to overcome the cell limit, so I suggest you look for alternatives as suggested above.

Identify gaps in a sequence in one cell - Excel

Your problem can be solved by using the TREND function:

1. Taking the first data sample in Column A, you need to create 1st sequence from 1 to 13 and 2nd from 1 to 20.
   
2. Write this Array Formula in Cell C1, finish with Ctrl+Shift+Enter & fill down.
   

{=TREND(A1:A13,B1:B13,B14:B20)}

1. You get series from 14 to 20.
   
2. In D1 enter this Formula to get the 1st Cell value.
   =INDEX(C1:C7,MATCH(TRUE,INDEX((C1:C7<>0),0),0))
   
3. Enter this Formula in D2 to get last Cell value.
   

=LOOKUP(2,1/(C1:C7<>""),C1:C7)

1. In Cell D4 enter this one =D1&"-"&D2, you get 14-20.
   

Note:
For 2nd data sample you need to create 2 series.

1- 2 to 9.

2- 1 to 10.

3rd data sample needs 3 series.

1- 1 to 4.

2- 6 to 11.

3- 1 to 11.

1. Repeat the above shown steps for other data samples.
   
2. Adjust cell references in the Formula as needed.
