    How can I delete a undeletable file?


    I tried deleting a file in C: programs x86 but it said it was being used by another process, so I used file locksmith to see whats using it but file locksmith said it was being used by explorer??? A specific dll file was using explorer and I cant delete it. HELP!!

    Can't delete or rename some files

    Hi, try two basic diagnostic steps.
    a. Boot to Safe Mode.
    Can you then delete one of the 'undeletable' files?

    b. Create a new user for test purposes. Log in as that user.
    Again, can you then delete one of the 'undeletable' files?

    Where are the files located with which you have this problem? If in various locations, is there anything consistent about these?

    What types of files are they?

    Deleted Media

    file undeleters, like one on tuneup utilities. But if something was written to disk after deletion, data probably are gone.
