How can I disable my ssd on my laptop using disk utility

I currently have 2 ssds one of which causes blue screens when being used for a whilethis ssd doesn't have an operating system inside it's literally blank. As of the moment I'm fed up bringing it to the shop, the technician cannot find the reason for it causing blue screens and I have decided to disable it.

  2. 100% Disk Utilization after 1511 update.

    Hello,

I have recently updated Windows 10 from 1024 to 1511 since the update the disk utilization of my laptop is always at 100%. I have tried the following solutions found online:

    - Disabling Windows Search and Superfetch

    - Changing Prefetch value from 3 - 0

    - Disabled flash in Chrome

    - Disabled Prefetch in Chrome

    - I checked the solution given by Microsoft regarding the StoreAHC.sys but my Laptop is using iAstora.sys

But disk utilization is still at 100%. My laptop is an HP Pavilion 13 with an Intel Core i5 5200U, NVIDIA GEFORCE 940m, 4GB Ram and 1TB hard disk.

Any suggestions or personal solutions guys? Thanks in advanced.

  3. Disk utilization problem in Windows 11

    Hi zachary,

    Sure thing!

This can be quite lengthy, however, here it is (also a small description of what they are) !

    Disable Superfetch:

Superfetch is a service that preloads frequently used programs and files into RAM to improve system performance. However, it can cause high disk usage in some cases. Here's how to disable it:

Step 1: Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

Step 2: Type "services.msc" in the Run box and press Enter.

Step 3: Scroll down to find "Superfetch" in the list of services.

Step 4: Right-click on Superfetch and select "Properties."

Step 5: Change the "Startup type" to "Disabled" and click "Apply."

Step 6: Click "OK" to save the changes and exit the Properties window.

    Disable search indexing:

Search indexing is a service that indexes the files on your computer to improve search performance. However, it can cause high disk usage in some cases. Here's how to disable it:

Step 1: Open the Control Panel.

    Step 2: Click "Indexing Options."

    Step 3: Click "Modify."

Step 4: Uncheck all the boxes under "Change selected locations."

Step 5: Click "OK" to save the changes.

Step 6: Click "Close" to exit the Indexing Options window.

Disable Connected User Experiences and Telemetry:

Connected User Experiences and Telemetry is a service that collects and sends usage data to Microsoft to improve the user experience. However, it can cause high disk usage in some cases. Here's how to disable it:

Step 1: Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

Step 2: Type "services.msc" in the Run box and press Enter.

Step 3: Scroll down to find "Connected User Experiences and Telemetry" in the list of services.

Step 4: Right-click on "Connected User Experiences and Telemetry" and select "Properties."

Step 5: Change the "Startup type" to "Disabled" and click "Apply."

Step 6: Click "OK" to save the changes and exit the Properties window.

    Disable Windows Search:

Windows Search is a service that indexes files and folders on your computer to improve search performance. However, it can cause high disk usage in some cases. Here's how to disable it:

Step 1: Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

Step 2: Type "services.msc" in the Run box and press Enter.

Step 3: Scroll down to find "Windows Search" in the list of services.

Step 4: Right-click on "Windows Search" and select "Properties."

Step 5: Change the "Startup type" to "Disabled" and click "Apply."

Step 6: Click "OK" to save the changes and exit the Properties window.

    Disable scheduled defragmentation:

Step 1: Open the Control Panel.

    Step 2: Click "Administrative Tools."

    Step 3: Click "Task Scheduler."

Step 4: Expand the "Task Scheduler Library" folder.

Step 5: Expand the "Microsoft" folder.

Step 6: Expand the "Windows" folder.

    Step 7: Click on "Defrag."

Step 8: Right-click on "ScheduledDefrag" and select "Disable."

    Disable startup apps:

Step 1: Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

Step 2: Type "taskmgr" in the Run box and press Enter.

Step 3: Click on the "Startup" tab.

Step 4: Select the app you want to disable and click "Disable."

Step 5: Repeat step 4 for all the apps you want to disable.

Step 6: Close the Task Manager window.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks!

    Best,

  4. How can I disable my ssd on my laptop using disk utility

    100% disk utilization

Windows 10 Dell Laptop is always running very slow due to 100% disk utilization even at startup. Task manager shows Google Chrome as the biggest utilizer even though only the home page is up. It is very frustrating as the laptop came with Windows 8 which
was running smoothly. Problem started once I upgraded to Windows 10. Is there any particular service I need to disable to avoid this 100% disk utilization all the time?
