How can I disable the annoying blue rectangle in Windows 11 Camera?

I know this issue has been raised many times in the last 5 or 6 years, but I think it needs to be raised again. The last time it was raised was on November 13, 2021, 3 years ago!! 10 years of a bug that MS is too busy making money off us instead of fixing a problem that has been around 10 years.Hey MS instead of focusing your attention on the NEXT operating system why can't you at least along the way fix a problematic app, that we the users have to keep buying from you release to OS release. What has happened to taking pride in your work, and delivering your best effort? Aren't you at all

    :)

How can I disable the annoying blue rectangle in Windows Camera?

I know this issue has been raised many times in the last 5 or 6 years, but I think it needs to be raised again.

It concerns the visible rectangle that is drawn on the camera image to show where the face detection algorithm has detected a face. Of course we understand that the software is using facial recognition to find a focus point for the autofocus feature, and that's all fine and dandy - but why do we, the customers, need to see that annoying rectangle? It’s not required for the operation of the software – I know this, because I write a lot of image processing code, and I know that displaying that rectangle is an extra routine that actually slows down the overall performance of the code. It would still work fine without us seeing it.

    So why is it there?

My guess is that the visible rectangle was originally in the development code to help with de-bugging, and then some marketing guy swung by and said, “Hey, you should leave that in the final release, it looks cool, like something from a Jason Bourne movie - and it shows how clever we are with all this facial recognition stuff!”

But Jason Bourne was 30 years ago, guys. We’ve all seen this stuff before, and we don’t need to see it any more - it’s just annoying. It should never have been there in the first place!

    Verticle blue rectangle on monitor

My boss's monitor at work has this teal/blue rectangle going from the top all the way to the bottom of the screen. It's a 23" monitor, I would say the line going down the screen is about 1.5-2" wide. It occasionally will fade away and everything seems normal, sometimes even turning redish instead of the blue. I don't figure there's much I can do for it, but if anyone had any ideas that might work I'm all for impressing the boss *Smile How can I disable the annoying blue rectangle in Windows 11 Camera? :)

How can I disable the annoying blue rectangle in Windows 11 Camera?

    Camera Query

It's normal, the camera app is trying to be helpful. It draws a blue box around any faces it can recognise in the image. If you actually take a photo there will be no box included, it's just there as an 'aid' while composing the photo..

You can test that this is what's happening by holding your hand to your face to cover one eye. The facial recognition will fail and the box will disappear. Take your hand away and it will reappear.

I see no setting to turn it off, but if you switch the camera from 'Take photo' to 'Video' it will not use facial recognition.
