Windows 10: how can i fix the freezing?

So for the past while my pc has been freezing in weird ways. What it does is it will freeze certain things, but not other things. And only for like 15-20 seconds at a time, after it would go back to normal. About 15-30 minutes later it does this again. Specifically the things that freeze: my cursor never freezes. But everything else does. If i were to hover over an application it would not highlight. Videos would stop playing and the thumbnails would not even load. Things like discord would also stop loading images and messages but i could for the most part still change the channels. sometimes

Borderlands freezes and thaws

I'm positive the steps I took above fixed it. I went through 10 rounds in the underdome (well over an hour of gameplay) without a single freeze. Previously, I couldn't play 15 minutes without at least one freeze.

 

Programs not working

In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

A computer can freeze for thousands of different reasons. Your first step is to figure out why it happens. Then you can ask for a solution to that problem.
