Windows 10: How can I fix the sound in video playback so it does not start muted?

I am trying to view videos on CompTIA Testout PC Pro site. For some reason, I start the videos and they are muted. In order to unmute, I have to rightclick on the video while it is playing to show controls, then adjust the volume. I then can hear the video. This happens on only one computer. I have another laptop that works just fine. I have tried both chrome and edge and the same thing happens. While this is workable, it slows me down having to start the video, adjust the sound then start the video again. I cannot seem to find how this happened or how to fix the issue. To fix the issue, we suggest that you run the Troubleshooting Wizard to troubleshoot hardware and devices. To do that, follow these steps:

• Right-click on the Start icon and select Control Panel.
• Type troubleshooting in the search bar and click on
  Troubleshooting.
• Click on Hardware and Sound > Hardware and Devices.
  
  
• Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

If the issue persists, uninstall the video drivers, then follow these steps:

• Right-click on the name of your PC at the top of the list of devices in
  Device Manager.
• Select Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the device driver, or
  download and install the latest version from the manufacturer’s website.

Agreed, this change by MS has been noted elsewhere.
Further, win key + s, sound does not find it, nor does playback.

Suggestions:
a. Use Open Shell Start menu (free). Searching for Sound finds it easily.
b. Use 3rd party utility Volume2 - (e.g lets you control volume by scrolling when hovering over taskbar + mute with middle button and more). Free, well thought out.

Rt click the tray icon, option Playback Devices opens the Sound dialogue.
c. Create your own shortcut - and put it in the Start Menu

Disable beep sound when plugging/unplugging laptop charger

I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

Disable the PC Speakers and check if it helps.

• Right click on Sound Icon in the task bar and go to Playback devices.
  
• Select Speaker and click on properties.
  
• Go to Levels tab, and mute (or you can reduce it) PC Speaker and check if it helps.
