Windows 10: how can i fix whatever is wrong with the built in microphone on my hp laptop?

when trying to video visit someone they cannot hear me because the microphone thats built in isnt working. I have windows 11 Edition Windows 11 Home Version 22H2 Installed on ‎12/‎21/‎2022 OS build 22621.1344 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22639.1000.0 i have: Device name leslies-laptop Processor IntelR PentiumR Silver N5030 CPU @ 1.10GHz 1.10 GHz Installed RAM 4.00 GB 3.82 GB usable Device ID 0580FD7C-7472-464C-BA3B-A23A7CCCF5D2 Product ID 00356-02428-64180-AAOEM System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available

Built in microphone not working

I understand your concern and will assist you to resolve this issue.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.

• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit Enter.
