How can I force Explorer to show a folder path in compact format?

Once again, MS has decided that obese is best.In order to show the full path of a folder, the folder has to be opened to a huge width, wider than the width of my monitor. If I don't increase the width, I cannot see the drive letter. If I hold the mouse over the path, the compact path is visible for a moment until I move away. I have multiple generations of files on various drives and folders. which mustn't be confused. But MS is determined to confuse me.How can I force Explorer NEVER to show the expanded format, ALWAYS to show the compact path?Thank you

    :)

Show File Explorer FOLDER NAMES in Taskbar instead of PREVIEWS with truncated paths? - Windows 10

In Windows 7 Pro, when you have more folders open than will fit in the taskbar (the folder names all get collapsed into the File Explorer icon in the taskbar) and when you click the File Explorer icon in the taskbar the list of open folder names pop up into
a vertical menu list of folder names from which you could choose a folder.

In Windows 10, the list of folder names has been replaced by the folder Previews which shows the beginning of the folder path (for example, C:\Users\B...) - but it does not show all of the actual open folder names unless you roll over each preview one at
a time to see the full path with folder name. Very slow and inefficient since you can't just see the folder names all at a glance. How can I force Explorer to show a folder path in compact format? :(
I'd like to see the name of the folder that is open.

Is there a way to show either show...

    1. The File Explorer LIST of Folder Names like in Windows 7 (instead of folder PREVIEWS of the open folders)?

    or

    2. Show the open Folder Names instead of the beginning of the path... by default (without having to roll over each preview one at a time)? I don't mind the horizontal list of Previews as long as long as I could see all the folder names at a glance in the
    title bar of each preview.

Thanks in advance for any insights/tips.

  3. How to have full path always show in Address bar in file explorer?

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

You can change the Windows 11 File Explorer address bar to show the full file path by following these steps:

    1. Open File Explorer.
    2. Click on the three-dot menu icon located at the top right of the window.
    3. Click on 'Options'.
    4. In the 'Folder Options' window that appears, go to the 'View' tab.
    5. In the 'Advanced settings' list, find and check the 'Display the full path in the title bar' option.
    6. Click 'Apply', then 'OK'.

Please let me know how it goes, or if you need further assistance.

  4. How can I force Explorer to show a folder path in compact format?

    How to show: \\ full path > Users > First.Last ; NOT: \\ icon >First. Last

    Hi Greg,

The full location path on Quick access will show up once you click the title bar. You may also want to check if you were able to enable the option to show the full path in the Folder Options. If you haven't checked it yet, you may follow the
    steps below:

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Select View tab and click Options on the top-right part of the window.
    • Go to Change folder and search options.
    • Choose View tab, tick the Display the full path in the title bar option.
    • Click Apply then OK.
