Windows 10: How can I get a Windows 10 Pro license for an XP Pro disk set?

I purchased an XP Pro disk set many years ago but I ended up not using that copy but I still have those disks with product key.I had other laptops that all came with Windows 10 installed.I now am building my desktop and would like to know if I can swap the XP Pro product key with a Windows 10 Pro activation key, without installing Windows XP Pro and then going through the upgrade route.Appreciate a quick response. Dual installation of Windows 10 Pro & Windows XP Pro


I've cleanly installed Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) in UEFI mode in my new computer.

I'm planning to have XP by either dual boot (separate hard disk) or virtualization.

But this question is strictly regarding with dual boot.

If I unplug hard disk containing Windows 10, install Windows XP in separate hard disk in legacy BIOS mode (as XP doesn't suppoer UEFI), replug hard disk containing Windows 10, would I be able to have properly functioning dual boot?

If not, can you please suggest how to make this to be happen?

I need to change my motherboard, have windows 10 pro. When i google how to it says go to activation then add an account, my issue is there is no add an account option under activation? Or am I in the wrong window?



Not sure how to proceed, ive googled it and the same results. Do I have an OEM or? On the disk sleave it says OEI DVD?

Windows 10 Education Pro

I've not had an opportunity to test Pro Education edition yet but I am running normal Education on a Hyper-V virtual machine and on dual boot with Pro on a laptop. Basically Education is exactly as Enterprise, meant for domain or Azure AD use. Main differences when compared to Pro are missing Cortana and no possibility to use Microsoft account as initial user account when setting up Windows, although when selecting initial user as local domain user a normal local account will be created which can then be switched to a Microsoft account instead of joining a domain.

Native Windows apps in Windows 10 Education edition are the same than in Pro edition, Cortana being the only exception.

If you already have setup Windows 10 Pro on your machines with a customised image I can see no benefits in doing the job again deploying an almost similar OS. This is of course only my personal subjective opinion based on what I know at the moment; I have no knowledge or insight about what additional features (see highlighted part in quote below) Pro Education might be and if they would be reason enough to upgrade to Pro Education.
