  1. How can I get faster transfer rates from the hotspot mode?

I have an application that needs more than the 300Mb or so offered up by the current Windows 10 hotspot mode. My understanding is that MS moved away from the well supported Soft-AP mode to Wifi-Direct. Giving up significant performance in the process. I have an Intel AX200 that I would like to use on 5Ghz with the full bandwidth it can offer. Presumably 2Gbs or so. How can I accomplish this?

    :)

  2. How to change the drag & drop default bit rate to transfer audio files?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community and sorry for the delayed response.

In order to assist you better could you please confirm a couple of things:

    • While dragging and dropping do you get an option to change the bit transfer rate?
    • If yes, have you tried changing the bit rate?
If you get an option I suggest you to try changing the bit rate manually while dragging and dropping and check if this helps. Also please be informed that its by default your files are being transferred with the bit rate 160 kbps. So you may leave a feedback
by using the Windows feedback App.

Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

  3. Internet Speed Faster in Safe Mode, Native Ookla App

From a SevenForums post by Samuria

    Start your system normally

Get a command prompt. I would then suggest changing the directory to the root making the text files easier to find.

    cd\

    then the command

    net start > norm.txt

This will list all services running in normal mode.

    Start in Safe mode

    Command prompt

    cd\

    then

    net start > safe.txt

You can then compare these two lists. ( I might copy and paste text into a spreadsheet for comaprison purposes). I've google several articles and they all come back to an AV running in normal mode. I would check the list of services in normal mode. Could be an old AV that you removed but some component remains.

  4. How can I get faster transfer rates from the hotspot mode?

    Mobile Hotspot

We appreciate that you have tried the suggested steps above. Have you tried to connect other devices to the mobile hotspot on your PC?

Since the issue is still the same, we suggest that you uninstall/reinstall the network adapter driver and check if this will resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X and click on
      Device manager
      .

    • Locate for Network adaptor and click on it expand it.

    • Right click on the device and click on
      uninstall
      .

    • Once you are done uninstalling the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically install the generic network adapter driver.

We can also update the network adapter driver. Skip step 3 from the above steps and right click on the device and click on update.

Feel free to post back for any updates.
