Windows 10: How can I get File History backup to close automatically when complete

How can I get File History backup to close automatically when complete without shutting down the computer.. Safely remove hardware does not work.

Thank you for writing us back.

I would suggest you to go through the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key+I.
  
• 
  Click on Update and security.
  
• 
  On the left pane, click on backup and select on under automatically back up my files.
  
• 
  Click on more option under on button.
  
• 
  Select every hour (default) under back up my files.
  
• 
  Select forever (default) under keep my files.

File History does not backup automatically

Thanks you for posting your reply and update.

I suggest you to File History service, restart the computer and then set it as Automatic from the services and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Steps:-

1. Press Windows key + R and open Run command window.

2. Type services.msc and hit
Enter.

3. Right click on File History from the list.

4. Select Stop. Restart the computer and repeat the first three steps.

5. Click on Properties
and set the set Startup type to Automatic.

6. Click on Apply
and Ok.

backup File History not starts automatically

@mla, my File History has just automatically started a backup to my network drive, without any prompting from me.

As I said, mine only kicks in when File History sees changes in the files being backed up, and today I made quite a few.

Automatic backup in progress....





And now it has completed...
