How can I get help finding and removing users accounts administrators with unauthorized access?

Software apps are missing features or respond that I do not have permission to access or perform a task function. My personal computer is supposed to be home private network and I am supposed to be only recognize Administrator user.I found the remote access feature had been enabled and disabled it but also found user profiles and Administrator account. Some have permissions all and I am unable to remove. I am n I want to determine if my system network is connected to another network or administered by someone else and also any connections to a school or other organization. I have a dell laptop

    :)

  2. We have an unauthorized user on our family account that gained access through my son's account and made himself a system administrator. The two attached images are showing my inability to remove him.

Please help us remove an unauthorized user who gained access through my son's account. Now my son's account is not listed under our family plan and I can not remove the unauthorized user as it appears he set himself as the administrator over my son's account.

Settings can't be opened using the built-in administrator account

    Hello,
Unfortunately I have the same issue as Dabz from upgrading win7 to win10.
I've tried opening settings using all the suggested methods and it will not load using my account with Administrator access nor the built-in Administrator profile. I also tried other methods not listed such as using Run. Control panel is just a stepping stone to add users in Settings.
I'm also having explorer.exe issues, which I believe is preventing Settings from loading.
Using cmd (Admin) I successfully created a new user profile [and granted admin access also using cmd (Admin)], however win10 will not allow this account to log on. win10 does not list this new user within control panel but it does in the start menu. win10 will not allow to log in or switch to the new account via the start menu either.
I can access settings in Safe Mode but this will not allow me to create a new account.
Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

    Help with administrator users!

    Hello, Kaitlyn D'Agostino

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It sounds like a tricky situation, but don't worry, there are several steps you can take to re-establish your control over the administrator account on your Windows 11 laptop.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue:

Step 1: Create a Local Administrator Account

    1. Boot into Safe Mode (if necessary)
      • If you're having trouble accessing settings normally, you can try booting into Safe Mode. Restart your computer and press Shift + F8 before Windows starts. This might take a few tries as timing can be tricky.
    2. Create a New Local Administrator Account
      • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
      • Type compmgmt.msc and press Enter to open Computer Management.
      • In the left pane, navigate to Local Users and Groups > Users.
      • Right-click on the white space in the middle pane and select New User.
      • Fill out the details for your new local account. Make sure to uncheck User must change password at next logon and check Password never expires.
      • After creating the user, right-click on it and choose Properties.
      • Go to the Member Of tab and click Add.
      • Type Administrators and click Check Names, then click OK.

Step 2: Log in with the New Local Administrator Account

    1. Log out of your current account.
    2. Sign in with the new local administrator account you just created.

Step 3: Remove Your Friend's Microsoft Account

    1. Open Settings by pressing Win + I.
    2. Go to Accounts > Access work or school.
    3. You should see your friend's account listed here. Click on it and select Disconnect.
    4. Also, go to Accounts > Family & other users.
      • If her account appears here, attempt to remove it again. Since you’re logged in as a local admin now, this should work.

Step 4: Re-link Your Microsoft Account

    1. Switch back to your original Microsoft account.
    2. Go to Settings > Accounts > Your info.
    3. Click on Sign in with a Microsoft account instead if you’re using a local account. Follow the prompts to sign in with your Microsoft account.

Step 5: Adjust Account Settings as Needed

    1. Ensure that your account is set as an administrator:
      • Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
      • Select your account and make sure it is set to Administrator.

Step 6: Verify Outlook and Other Applications

    1. Open Outlook and ensure it is linked to your Microsoft account.
      • You might need to sign out and sign back in, using your credentials.

Step 7: Clean Up Any Residual Issues

    1. Check OneDrive and other Microsoft services.
      • Ensure they are synced with your account, not your friend’s.

By following these steps, you should be able to regain control over your laptop and remove your friend's account from the system. If you encounter any specific error messages during these steps, please provide those details so we can offer more targeted assistance.

    Best regards
