  1. How can I get my 2nd and 3rd 4K monitors to stay at 60hz instead of 30hz?

I have three (3) Vizio 40” 4K TV’s & a 960GTX. Since my GPU has 3 DP and 1 HDMI, I use 2 “active” DP to HDMI cables (That yes support 4K @ 60hz - These are the actual cables: Cable 1 - Cable 2 ) I chose 2 different manufacturers for troubleshooting purposes, for an instance just like this.

100% of the time, when I boot, the HDMI to HDMI monitor is @ 60HZ. (the 60hz will follow the cable just fine)

But 90% of the time when I boot the other 2 monitors are at 30hz, and I can’t change them to 60HZ in Display Settings > Advanced > Refresh Rate OR Nvidia’s Control Panel > Display > Change Resolution.

When I try to change them, the screens do flicker and it asks if I want to keep the settings, but it never changes to 60hz. It still says it’s at 30hz.

I’ve tried changing drivers, turning on the monitors before windows boots up and after it boots up or even after it’s been running for hours, no change.

But sometimes, a good 10% of the time, the 2nd and 3rd monitors boot @ 60HZ and stay there, zero problems. So it IS possible, it’s not technological hardware problems per se, I just have no idea why it doesn’t stay @ 60hz all the time.

If I lower the resolution to 1080P and select 60hz for 1 of the monitors, yeah it’ll jump down to 1080P and be at 60hz just fine. So it doesn’t much like 4K @ 60hz “most” of the time.

Any thoughts before I just get a new GPU with 3 proper HDMI outs?

  2. HDR and WCG will not turn on for 4k 60hz, only 30hz.

    Hi there,

I have a gtx 1080ti and a Sony x900e tv. Both support HDR10. However if I set the the refresh rate to 4k @ 60hz via the Nvidia Control Panel Windows 10 won't enable HDR.

If I set it to 30hz, Windows 10 will enable HDR.

My TV is confirmed to be compatible at 4k 60hz HDR while Enhanced Format is enabled.

my set up is 3 monitors (2 24" samsung monitors, and 1 Sony tv which is the main display).

It does work at 1080p @ 60hz for HDR though.

    Can anyone help? Thanks!

  3. HDR and WCG will not turn on for 4k 60hz, only 30hz.

    Hi UmeedMalik,

Issue like this might be due to an outdated videocard driver. I'd like to get more information regarding this so we could further check and provide a more established workaround. Please answer the following:

    1. What is the current build and version of your Windows 10?
    2. Is this the first time that you are trying to connect your PC to your TV?
    3. What type of cable did you use to connect your computer to your TV?

In the meantime, try the following suggestions to isolate the issue:

    • Download and install all the suggested Windows cumulative and security update.
    • Install the latest video card driver. Download it directly from the manufacturer's website.
    • Use a different HDMI cable. Check if your video cable supports 4k 60hz resolution. Some HDMI cable only supports 30hz at 4k.
    • Try connecting your PC to you TV alone. This will help us eliminate hardware conflict issues.

If you would like me to provide additional advice, simply respond to this thread. I will get notified and I’ll reply to you as soon as I can.

How can I get my 2nd and 3rd 4K monitors to stay at 60hz instead of 30hz?

Can't change refresh rate to 60hz cuz Windows only shows 30hz

Connected my monitor (Samsung UH750) over HDMI 2.1 to my PC (750 TI with no DisplayPort) and it is stuck at 30hz even though the monitor has 60hz. The HDMI 2.0 cable supports 4k & 60hz also the monitors HDMI outputs support 60hz. Still Windows only shows
30hz or below (Windows 10) I also have installed latest drivers. Any help is welcome. How can I get my 2nd and 3rd 4K monitors to stay at 60hz instead of 30hz? :)
